Before or after?

Sometimes, I love an image straight out of the camera and then process it anyway and can’t decide if I like the before or after better. Does that ever happen to you? Here’s an example of one that happened recently that I absolutely love.

I upped the contrast, vibrance and definition a tad and then brightened it a bit. Basically made the colours and detail pop a bit more. Not a huge difference, but definitely noticeable. Which do you prefer?

I’m not one for heavy processing anyway, so my edits tend to be more enhancements than big changes. I like it that way. I do my best to capture exactly what I want in camera but some time in the digital darkroom is usually needed to fine tune my vision. At the moment I use Aperture about 98% of the time and only take it to The PhotoShop on occasion. I like it that way.

Two days after we met I knew I loved you. And I knew it was true because I had no attachment to an outcome based on the feeling, just the feeling. I knew that no matter what, I’d be glad for having met, known and loved you. Lucky for me, however, you loved me too. And so we chose each other and began our life together.

Golden Gate Bridge from Crissy Fields

This bridge and I have been seeing a lot of each other in the last few months. I’m loving capturing my beautiful families at Crissy Fields and I’m also really enjoying the chance to walk around and admire the vista afterwards.

Two amazing videos I just wanted to share with you today.

Isn’t it amazing how sometimes everything just lines up at the exact right time and you hear exactly what you need to hear, when you need to hear it? Well, Alex Beadon shared this video on her blog yesterday. I’m already familiar with Danielle LaPorte‘s work, so I knew it’d be good. Then I watched it. And watched it again. Got a little teary and decided I had to share it with you.

Then, of course, there’s this great looking project on Kickstarter. Have you heard of Kickstarter? It’s an awesome platform for creatives to find funding for their projects. Seriously, this site is full of amazing people, doing amazing things. And this one is a little closer to my heart because it’s a documentary that follows three photographers around so you can get a first hand view of their lives, work and process. Sounds fascinating, no? Hey, if you ever want to spend the day with me and witness the cray-cray adventures I deal with on the daily, just call! Ha!!
