About ajira darch photography

Hi! Ajira here!! Thanks for stopping by!

Here is where I share thoughts and images from my daily life, adventures as a parent to my beautiful son and of course, from photographing the lovely families that are my wonderful clients!

Bibi (my grandmother) must have known somehow. That giving me a name meaning journey would be apt. Corny as it may be, I do believe that life is a journey and we are better off (and much nicer to be around) enjoying the ride! See you on the road!

I love it when I see something so beautiful I have to stop and blink at it in a daze.

Let me show you what I see when I look at you.

2011 Fall Mini Sessions!! With a twist!

Thursday, October 13th, 2011

Hey ho! It’s that time of year again… the mornings are chilly and bright, there’s a blanket of fog and mist that the sun has to throw off each day for a bit of midday warmth before it wanes and the brisk, autumn air turns colder again. For someone who despises the cold, it surprises even me that autumn is a season I thoroughly enjoy. Part of it is that hot chocolate seems that much more acceptable as a daily beverage but another part of it is the crunchy leaves and puddles to wade through and the beautiful colours blooming for one final, glorious farewell before winter comes.

So… what do you say? Shall we get together and do a quick session before the holidays come?

Three days of holiday mini sessions this year… at three different locations that I love! I’m really excited to be offering three this year and hope this means we can get you somewhere you can completely relax and be yourselves in! If you’d rather have me all to yourself for a full session and want those images to use for the holidays, then let’s get that session done by mid-November. You know how crazy it gets during the holidays people!

Okay, on to the details! Are you ready? Because this year, the first mini-sessions  I’m excited to offer are for a themed day!! We’re doing a spooky ode to Halloween! People keep telling me I’m too old to get excited about Halloween but we didn’t celebrate it where I grew up, guys! Cut me some slack and help me enjoy it! So, if you’ve got a costume you’re super proud of making (or buying!! Ha!!) then let’s get it memorialized for eternity! :D

Available slots (at our super secret location near Berkeley):

8am

8:30am

4:30pm

5pm

5:30pm

6pm

But, wait!

There’s more!!

:D

The weekend after that, we’re having our more sedate (ha!) fall mini photography sessions, at two marvelous locations… on Saturday we’ll be at Alvarado Park in Richmond…. one of my absolute favourite locations of all time! It’s a beautiful park and just perfect for kids to run around in… if you love to walk, hike, picnic, commune with nature, this’ll be the spot for you! The other location is more urban and in the warehouse district of Berkeley. Lots of colour and texture to add some chutspah to this year’s holiday cards! :D

Available slots:

Alvarado Park, Richmond

Please note: sessions are nonrefundable due to the nature of them being back to back but they ARE totally transferable!  Cards, additional prints or digital negative are purchased separately. Small and large animals welcome. Book a Halloween mini-session and a park mini-session for $300!! You’re welcome! :D

Please email ajira@ajiradarchphotography.com or call me at 510-213-8715 to schedule.

Let me know a few of your top preferred times too! When we confirm your session, I’ll send you all the details about how to prepare (what to wear, bring and so on).

I’m excited. Are you excited?

Teton {Oakland Pet Photographer}

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011

Teton is big, soft, cuddly and sweet. He has bone cancer and is doing a radiation treatment to ease his pain. When we saw him at Jack London Square, on our way to catch a ferry into the city, he was still groggy from his treatment the day before. His owner, Michelle, was so adoring and between them we were just drawn to say hello. Which of course, led to many comments about the big ole puppy from Chésaweh and a request from me to take some pictures. Isn’t he glorious?
