I was going to tell you
Monday, March 19th, 2012about my friend Joann, and the last day we spent with her before she moved to the other side of the country. But then, I saw this picture and got stuck there. So, we’ll start here. Because this reminded me that sometimes it looks like someone’s walking away from us when they’re really walking towards something else. And that’s okay.

Thank you so much for welcoming me into your home with open arms. It was delightful to meet your darling daughter, who is so clearly the apple of your eyes and understandably so! Your family is a treasure and I’m so glad to have photographed you together. I loved how Shayna lit up at the sight of Elmo, how she so purposefully chose a book to read, and how you two looked at each other and then smiled (and sometimes even laughed) before answering some of my crazy questions about you, your family and your beautiful child!
